Poor Jessi, if she only knew what she was getting herself into. I introduced Jess to chores the other day with a peppy 'ole, "hey Jess, you wanna be moms big helper?" She was ecstatic to help! I told her she was old enough to start doing chores around the house, she smiled and said okay.
So off she went with lysol wipes in hand and proceeded to clean the baseboards in the kitchen, dining room, family room, back entry, and half bath.
She needed a little pep talk every now and then. The excitement she first had was fading after about 8 minutes, but she continued to do a very good job, especially given that the baseboards have had no attention in a long time. (I refuse to tell you how long is long because I would be plan embarrassed.)
Pep talk #2: If you want the "prize" at the end of the job you have to finish and finish well!
After all was said and done I explained to Jessi that not everything in life is handed to us or is free, but that you have to work for it. Sometimes you have to work really hard even when you don't want to.
Her hard work paid off. She got herself a new Barbie (I only paid .50 cents for it at a garage sale.) We both win! Until next time, we'll see if she is as compliant about doing the dreaded chores!

Seriously...too CUTE!
So I have to throw a huge thank-you out to my sister, Shelly, and for the wonderful talent of photography she has. She was so willing to take time out of her day to spend with my kids to capture some priceless expressions, adorable smiles, and ah yes even some attitude!
Jessi was easy and acted like a model the entire time. Oh stars, we may have are hands full with her come 16!
Gracie was shy and reserved at first, but her true colors came out later: tongue hanging out, smirk in her smile, and then the tears and "I don't want to's!"
Grant was busy! It was hard for us to get him to stop moving. He loves to be outside, so much to look at, so much to grab! I'm in for it when he starts moving.
All in all a very good session. I'm so happy how they turned out! Thanks again Shel.....your the BEST!
