I Thessalonians 5:16-18

Nothing sounded better to me today than the noise of Kirk's truck pulling into the garage, the door opening, and Gracie's feet hitting the floor to greet him home from a long weekend away hunting. I'm not going to lie it's not always a fun filled time when he is away. I get tired, impatient with the demands of the kids weighing all on me, breaking up fights, and this weekend watching from inside the rain hitting the windows causing us all to get a little cabin fever.

To which I remember a few of my favorite verses in the Bible, I Thessalonians 5:16-18, "Be joyful always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."

I have to say I have come a long way since we've been married, especially with kids, and enjoying this time of the year. I wasn't always nice about Kirk leaving, a lot of times was fed up by the time he got home, and well quite frankly wanted to curse hunting season all together. But I am glad, joyful, that Kirk gets this time with his dad and buddies to hang out, do guy things, enjoy his hobby. I've learned to support him and what makes him happy. Hence, be joyful always.

I do believe God also puts us in position to rely more on Him. I did get impatient, lonely, and frustrated at times, but what a opportunity to seek Him. Therefore, pray continually.

It also opens this door for me and the kids to have more quality time together. Looking back on this weekend the kids and I had a lot of fun. We colored a lot, played tons of games, snuggled to cartoons in our jammies, ate cinnamon rolls without daddies help, went to the park, and had movie night with our cousins. In this I give thanks.

These verses are packed with a lot to live up to. But when you look at the situation you are in I believe you can always find some joy, God wants us to fall at His feet to pray, and no matter what we should learn to give thanks in any and all circumstances.

I am so thankful Kirk is back home to lend his helping hands. It's not until he is gone that I realize just how much he does with the kids and around the house...thanks Kirk...I love you!
